Description
Eubie Blake, a famous African-American ragtime pianist, was born in Baltimore, Maryland on February 7, 1887. He showed musical talent as a child and became known for songs like "Love Will Find A Way." He wrote the musical "Shuffle Along" with Noble Sissle, the first popular Broadway musical written by African-Americans. In 1978, the Broadway hit "Eubie!" opened. Blake composed over 350 songs during his career and won numerous awards. He died at 96 years old in 1983 and was buried in Cypress Hills Cemetery in Brooklyn, New York.
