Billie Holiday, was an extraordinary African-American jazz singer and songwriter, experienced a life filled with both joyous triumphs and heart-wrenching tragedies. Born on April 7, 1915, in Philadelphia, PA, she embarked on her musical journey at a tender age of 15, captivating audiences in Harlem Jazz clubs with her soulful and incomparable voice that truly set her apart from all other performers. Throughout her illustrious career, she graced the world with an astounding 38 chart-topping singles and an impressive collection of 350 diverse songs. Sadly, her untimely demise came on July 17, 1959, in the vibrant city of New York. Her final resting place is at Saint Raymond's Cemetery, in the heart of Bronx County, NY.
