Description
Gordon Parks, born on November 30, 1912, in Kansas, was a talented African-American artist known for his skills in photography, writing, filmmaking, composing, and painting. He made history as the first African-American to write and direct a major Hollywood film. He passed away on March 7, 2006, in New York City and his funeral took place in Riverside Church in West Harlem.
